How Much Is WHOOP? 2026 Membership Costs, Hidden Fees and Whether It's Worth It
Quick answer: WHOOP costs $199 a year for WHOOP One, $239 for WHOOP Peak and $359 for WHOOP Life in the US as of October 2026, and the WHOOP 5.0 or WHOOP MG band comes with the membership. There's no one-time price. Three years on yearly billing runs $597 to $1,077, against $100 to $200 for no-subscription bands like the Polar Loop.1, 2, 3
Look for the price of a WHOOP band by itself and you won't find one. WHOOP sells a membership, ships the sensor with it, and bills you again every year you want your data. So the real answer to "how much is WHOOP" has three parts: what you pay per year, how many years you'll keep paying, and what gets added along the way.1, 4
We pulled every number here from WHOOP's support center (its pricing, billing, trial, cancellation and return pages, most updated between April and September 2026), checked them against news coverage and WHOOP's Amazon listings, and read owner threads on WHOOP's community forum through October 3, 2026. Then we ran the math WHOOP's pages don't show: the three-year bill next to bands you buy once.
- Cheapest way in: WHOOP One at $199 a year, or $319 for two years at WHOOP's listed 24-month price (confirm it at checkout) if you already know you'll stay.
- Which plan: One covers sleep, strain, recovery and the AI coach. Peak adds stress and longevity dashboards for $40 more a year. Life adds ECG and blood pressure estimates for another $120.
- Want to try it? The 30-day free trial costs only shipping, but it turns into a $239 Peak year if you don't cancel and return it in time.
- Skip WHOOP if you mostly want steps and sleep. Independent testing in 2026 found no meaningful difference in sleep data between WHOOP and $100 to $200 bands. Who it's worth it for.
How Much Does a WHOOP Membership Cost in 2026?
In the US, WHOOP One costs $199 a year, WHOOP Peak $239 and WHOOP Life $359, according to WHOOP's support pages in October 2026, the same prices the plans launched at in May 2025. New members pay 12 or 24 months upfront. Monthly billing only opens up after a first 12-month commitment.1, 5, 6, 7
| Plan (US, October 2026) | 12 months | 24 months | Monthly, after year one | Hardware | What it unlocks |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| WHOOP One | $199 | $319 | $25 | WHOOP 5.0; bought direct in the US: SuperKnit band, Wireless PowerPack; on Amazon: CoreKnit band, Basic Charger | Sleep, strain and recovery, VO2 max, Strength Trainer, AI coach, journal, hormonal insights |
| WHOOP Peak | $239 | $399 | $30 | WHOOP 5.0, SuperKnit band, Wireless PowerPack | Everything in One, plus Health Monitor, Stress Monitor and Healthspan (WHOOP Age, Pace of Aging) |
| WHOOP Life | $359 | $599 | $40 | WHOOP MG, SuperKnit Luxe band, Wireless PowerPack | Everything in Peak, plus on-demand ECG, Blood Pressure Insights and priority phone support. Irregular heart rhythm notifications aren't offered in the US yet |
Prices from WHOOP's Membership Pricing, Billing and Extending your Membership support pages, read October 3, 2026. The 24-month prices are WHOOP's listed extension prices; the $319 two-year One price appears only on that extension page, so confirm it at checkout. Monthly billing isn't offered to every member and depends on location. Feature availability by country is from WHOOP's Regional Feature Availability page.1, 5, 8, 9
Three things the table can't show. First, two years upfront saves real money: $79 on One or Peak and $119 on Life compared with paying for two single years. WHOOP lets new members pick 24 months at sign-up, and Mashable reported the same $399 and $599 two-year prices for Peak and Life in November 2025.1, 8, 10 Second, monthly is the expensive way to pay. After year one, $25 a month for One adds up to $300 a year, $101 more than renewing annually.1 Third, what's in the One box depends on where you buy. WHOOP's pricing page lists a SuperKnit band and Wireless PowerPack for One bought direct in the US, while WHOOP's One listing on Amazon, checked October 3, 2026, comes with a CoreKnit band and a wired Basic Charger. If the wireless charger matters to you, check the box contents before you pay.1

Each Amazon listing is a 12-month membership with the device. Amazon sets its own price, separately from WHOOP's list prices above.
Is WHOOP Peak worth $40 more than WHOOP One?
Only if you'll actually open the extra screens. Peak adds Health Monitor (key vitals such as heart rate variability, resting heart rate and respiratory rate), a real-time Stress Monitor and Healthspan, home of the WHOOP Age and Pace of Aging scores. Sleep, strain, recovery, VO2 max and the AI coach are identical on One.1 Keep in mind that the free trial runs on Peak, so trial users get used to features One doesn't include.11
Is WHOOP Life worth $359 a year?
For most people, no. Life is the only plan with the WHOOP MG, and it adds on-demand ECG, Blood Pressure Insights and priority phone support.1 Two details matter before you pay $120 a year more than Peak. WHOOP's regional availability page, updated August 20, 2026, lists the US for ECG but not for Irregular Heart Rhythm Notifications, and WHOOP says an unlisted country doesn't have the feature yet. WHOOP's Amazon listing for Life still mentions those background alerts, so if they're the reason you're buying, wait until WHOOP lists the US.9 And DC Rainmaker points out that the blood pressure feature isn't medically certified and needs occasional calibration against a regular cuff.12 Our WHOOP 5.0 vs WHOOP MG comparison covers who the MG really makes sense for.
How Much Does WHOOP Cost Over 3 Years vs. No-Subscription Bands?
Over three years, WHOOP costs $597 on One, $717 on Peak and $1,077 on Life if you renew every year. The screen-free bands it competes with cost $100 to $200 once: $99.99 for the Amazfit Helio Strap or Google Fitbit Air, $199.99 for the Polar Loop or Garmin Cirqa, at the makers' list prices in October 2026.1, 2, 3, 13, 14

| Setup (USD, list prices, October 2026) | Upfront | By end of year 1 | By end of year 2 | By end of year 3 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| WHOOP One, billed yearly | $199 | $199 | $398 | $597 |
| WHOOP One, 24-month plan, then yearly | $319 | $319 | $319 | $518 |
| WHOOP One, first year, then monthly | $199 | $199 | $499 | $799 |
| WHOOP Peak, billed yearly | $239 | $239 | $478 | $717 |
| WHOOP Peak, 24-month plan, then yearly | $399 | $399 | $399 | $638 |
| WHOOP Life, billed yearly | $359 | $359 | $718 | $1,077 |
| WHOOP Life, 24-month plan, then yearly | $599 | $599 | $599 | $958 |
| Google Fitbit Air + Google Health Premium (yearly, after 3 free months) | $99.99 | $200 | $300 | $400 |
| Polar Loop | $199.99 | $200 | $200 | $200 |
| Garmin Cirqa | $199.99 | $200 | $200 | $200 |
| Google Fitbit Air, free app | $99.99 | $100 | $100 | $100 |
| Amazfit Helio Strap | $99.99 | $100 | $100 | $100 |
How we calculated it: each column is the running total you've paid by the end of that year. WHOOP rows use WHOOP's 12-month, 24-month and monthly prices, charged upfront and renewed at the same rate, which is how WHOOP says renewals work; the monthly row assumes you qualify for monthly billing after year one. The Fitbit Air + Premium row adds Google Health Premium at $99.99 a year (the yearly price reported by Android Authority; Google's store lists Premium "from $9.99"), first paid when the three included months end and again every 12 months. One-time bands use each maker's list price. Sales tax, replacement bands, chargers and sale prices aren't included.1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 14, 15, 16
A two-year plan softens the hit. Paying WHOOP's listed $319 for 24 months of One plus $199 for the other year comes to $518, in either order, the cheapest way to keep WHOOP for three years at list price. That's still $318 more than a Polar Loop or Garmin Cirqa, and the gap widens every extra year you keep paying while the one-time bands cost nothing more until you replace them. Sales don't close it either: three years at last Black Friday's $199 Peak price is still $597.8, 10
Does WHOOP Have a Free Trial?
Yes. New members can sign up for a 30-day free trial at join.whoop.com and pay only for shipping. If you don't cancel and send the hardware back, the trial turns into a 12-month WHOOP Peak membership at $239.11
- What's in the box: either a WHOOP 5.0 with a CoreKnit band and wired Basic Charger, or a WHOOP 4.0 with a SuperKnit band and Wireless PowerPack. You can't choose, the device may be pre-owned, and the WHOOP MG isn't offered as a trial.11, 17
- Which features: Peak, for the full 30 days.11
- If you cancel: access ends right away, and the return has to start inside the trial period. WHOOP's support pages give 7 days in one place and 14 in another to ship it once you have the label, so go by the shorter one. Keep the hardware and WHOOP charges a $110 restocking fee.11, 18
- Where: only through WHOOP. Retailers, Amazon included, only sell 12-month prepaid memberships.4
The timing is where people get caught. Because canceling cuts off access immediately, it's tempting to wait until the last day, and WHOOP's community forum has threads from members whose trial converted to a paid membership before they'd canceled. Set a reminder for day 25.19
What Hidden Costs Come With a WHOOP Membership?
The membership covers the sensor, one band, a charger and the app. Replacement bands, a lost sensor, an on-wrist charger if your kit didn't include one, and a forgotten renewal all cost extra.1, 20, 21
How much does a WHOOP band cost?
Your first band comes with the membership; replacements are on you. WHOOP's own care guide says to replace a SuperKnit band every 12 months and a SportFlex every 12 to 18 months, and normal wear and tear isn't covered by its lifetime warranty.21 Old WHOOP 4.0 bands don't fit the 5.0 or MG, and Life members need a band with the ECG-capable clasp for the ECG to work.21 We compare official bands with cheaper third-party ones in our WHOOP 5.0 and MG bands guide.
Do you need to buy a second charger?
Not to get started. Trial converts keep the wired Basic Charger, which isn't waterproof, and WHOOP's One listing on Amazon ships with it too. The Wireless PowerPack, the one WHOOP recommends for charging while you wear it, comes with Peak and Life, and WHOOP's pricing page lists it for One bought direct in the US. Everyone else buys it separately.1, 11, 21, 22 WHOOP lists both chargers as HSA/FSA eligible, with a note to confirm with your provider.23
What if you lose or break the sensor?
Defects are covered for as long as your membership is active, under WHOOP's lifetime warranty. Losing it isn't. Lost or stolen sensors, cosmetic damage and battery packs damaged by misuse fall outside the warranty, and replacements are bought from WHOOP's shop while signed in to your account.20 On WHOOP's forum, a long thread from members who lost a sensor describes being routed through support emails to get a replacement instead of simply adding one to a cart.19
What does forgetting the renewal cost?
A full year. WHOOP memberships renew automatically at the same annual rate, WHOOP emails a reminder 30 days before the charge, and it doesn't refund prepaid time.5 If you'd rather drop to a cheaper plan, schedule the downgrade in the app before the renewal date. It kicks in at the next billing date, with no refund for the current term.1
How much does it cost to upgrade from a WHOOP 4.0?
A one-time $49 gets a WHOOP 4.0 member a WHOOP 5.0 on Peak, and $79 gets a WHOOP MG on Life. The MG route moves you to Life: leftover Peak months convert three for two, and you renew at $359 a year. Prepaying another 12 or 24 months at the new plan's price gets the new hardware free instead, and members with 12 or more months left get the 5.0 on Peak at no charge.5, 8, 22
Can You Cancel WHOOP and Get a Refund?
Only in the first 30 days. WHOOP refunds a membership and device returned within 30 days of receipt, minus shipping, which you pay both ways. After that, prepaid memberships aren't refunded: you schedule the cancellation and keep using WHOOP until the term runs out.5, 17, 18
- Paying monthly inside a 12-month commitment: you either pay off the remaining months or cancel at the end of the commitment.18
- Need a break instead? Eligible members can pause for up to three months if they aren't in a commitment period and haven't paused in the past year. You aren't billed, and no data uploads while paused.18
- When the membership ends, WHOOP stops collecting, uploading and analyzing your data. You can still view your history.18
- Dropping from Life to a cheaper plan? The MG keeps working, the Life features lock, and WHOOP doesn't send a replacement 5.0.17
- Bought on Amazon? Returns follow Amazon's policy, and WHOOP won't process them.4, 17
If you're leaving for good, our guide to WHOOP alternatives without a subscription walks through keeping your data and picking a replacement.
Should You Buy WHOOP on Amazon or WHOOP.com?
Buy from WHOOP if you want the free trial, a 24-month plan, a Family Plan or HSA/FSA checkout. Buy on Amazon if its 12-month price is lower that day and you're happy with Amazon handling returns. Either way you get 12 months of membership with the device, and WHOOP says a WHOOP Life device from the "WHOOP Authorized" seller on Amazon is identical to one bought direct; it treats other sellers as unauthorized.4
| WHOOP (join.whoop.com) | Amazon | |
|---|---|---|
| Plans | 12 or 24 months prepaid, plus the free trial | 12-month prepaid only |
| Free trial | Yes, 30 days | No |
| Family Plan | Yes | No |
| Returns | WHOOP, within 30 days, refund minus shipping | Amazon's return policy; WHOOP won't process them |
| HSA/FSA | Pay with HSA/FSA card through Truemed at checkout | No Truemed checkout; WHOOP's Amazon listing says 12-month memberships qualify for reimbursement, so check with your plan |
| Referral and upcycle credits | Yes | No |
| Activation | Automatic | Starts when you pair the device; adds onto an existing account |
From WHOOP's retailer, return, HSA/FSA, trial and referral support pages and WHOOP's Amazon listings, read October 3, 2026.4, 11, 17, 23, 24
WHOOP's Amazon listings, checked October 3, 2026, describe One as a WHOOP 5.0 with a CoreKnit band and Basic Charger, Peak as a 5.0 with a SuperKnit band and Wireless PowerPack, and Life as the MG with a SuperKnit Luxe band and PowerPack, each with 12 months of membership. The One listing also mentions Stress Monitor and Health Monitor, but WHOOP's support pages put both in Peak.1
One practical warning. WHOOP's community forum has a steady trickle of Amazon buyers, often people with an old trial account, whose included membership didn't attach to their account or showed as expired a month or two in. WHOOP's public reply in those threads is to email support. Keep your Amazon order details, and pair the new device to the account you plan to keep.19 And because Amazon and WHOOP set prices separately, check both before a renewal date: one UK member auto-renewed at full price, then found the same plan cheaper on Amazon a few weeks later.19

When Is WHOOP Cheapest?
Around Black Friday. WHOOP discounted memberships in both 2024 and 2025. In 2024, a year of membership cost $199 instead of $239.25 In 2025, the sale ran November 20 to December 2: Peak dropped to $199 for 12 months or $359 for 24, Life to $299 or $539, and One, left out of the sale, had already been cut to $149 for 12 months.10 WHOOP hadn't announced 2026 pricing as of October 3. Our Black Friday fitness tracker guide tracks the dates and our price targets.
Outside of sales, a current member's referral gets you a free month and gives them one too. Referral credits only apply to memberships bought directly from WHOOP.24
Is WHOOP Worth It?
WHOOP is worth it if you train most days and will let a daily recovery score change how hard you go, how late you eat and how much you drink. It isn't worth $199 or more a year if you mainly want a step count and a sleep score, because $100 to $200 bands now track sleep about as well with no fee.26, 27
The case for paying is the coaching. Ray Maker of DC Rainmaker, who's worn WHOOP bands for years, summed it up in December 2025: "you're buying a subscription product, not so much the hardware."12 The5krunner calls WHOOP "the best recovery and strain coaching platform in sport tech" and aims it at CrossFit, HYROX, endurance and gym regulars.26 DC Rainmaker's August 2026 accuracy test also rated WHOOP's automatic workout detection excellent, ahead of Garmin's newer Cirqa.27 And on WHOOP's own forum, the happiest members talk about behavior more than data: the journal showing that late dinners drag their recovery down, or the AI coach nudging them to drink less and stop overtraining.19
The case against is cost and lock-in. DC Rainmaker's same test found no meaningful difference in sleep data between WHOOP and the Fitbit Air, Garmin Cirqa, Amazfit Helio Strap and Polar Loop.27 The5krunner, which rates WHOOP highly, still calls the subscription the only serious objection, and lists no screen, no built-in GPS and wrist heart rate that struggles in HYROX and CrossFit-style sessions as drawbacks.26 The forum has its unhappy members too: a returning member on a trial let down by a loose clasp, longtime members who saw their strain readings drop after moving to the 5.0, and people who found canceling a slog.19
- You train hard most days and want a daily strain target tied to recovery
- You'll use the journal and coach to actually change habits
- You can pay with HSA or FSA money
- You have a real reason to want on-demand ECG (WHOOP Life)
- You mostly want steps, sleep and resting heart rate
- You want to own your tracker and stop paying whenever you like
- You want a screen or built-in GPS
- Yearly auto-renewal charges make you nervous
If what's really bugging you is a stubborn recovery number, that's usually not a plan problem. Our guide to a low WHOOP Recovery Score covers what actually moves it.
What Can You Buy Instead of a WHOOP Membership?
For $99.99 once, the Google Fitbit Air or Amazfit Helio Strap tracks sleep and 24/7 heart rate with no required subscription. For $199.99, the Polar Loop or Garmin Cirqa does the same inside Polar's or Garmin's app. Google sells an optional Premium tier; the other three don't need one.2, 3, 13, 14, 15
We've compared each one with WHOOP in its own guide: Fitbit Air vs WHOOP 5.0, Amazfit Helio Strap vs WHOOP, Polar Loop vs WHOOP and Garmin Cirqa vs WHOOP. Weighing WHOOP against a smart ring? WHOOP Cost FAQ
How much is WHOOP per month?
WHOOP doesn't offer month-to-month sign-ups. Yearly plans work out to about $16.58 a month for One, $19.92 for Peak and $29.92 for Life. Monthly billing at $25, $30 or $40 opens up only after a first 12-month commitment, and not for every member (October 2026).1
Can you use a WHOOP without a membership?
No. The device comes with the membership, and once a membership ends, WHOOP stops collecting, uploading and analyzing your data, though you can still view your past data. WHOOP sells replacement sensors only to signed-in members, so you can't buy the band as a standalone tracker.18, 20
Does WHOOP have a free trial?
Yes, 30 days through join.whoop.com, with Peak features and only shipping to pay. The device may be a WHOOP 5.0 or 4.0, possibly pre-owned. Do nothing and it becomes a 12-month Peak membership at $239; cancel without returning the hardware and WHOOP charges a $110 restocking fee.11
Can you get a refund if you cancel WHOOP?
Within 30 days of receiving it, yes: cancel and return the device for a full refund minus shipping. After that, WHOOP doesn't refund prepaid memberships. You schedule the cancellation and keep using WHOOP until the term ends. Amazon purchases follow Amazon's return policy instead of WHOOP's.4, 17, 18
Is WHOOP cheaper on Amazon?
It can be. Amazon sells 12-month WHOOP One, Peak and Life memberships with the device, and its prices move independently of WHOOP's $199, $239 and $359. Buying direct gets you the free trial, 24-month plans, Family Plans, HSA/FSA checkout and referral credits, none of which apply on Amazon.4, 24
Does WHOOP go on sale for Black Friday?
Yes, two years running. From November 20 to December 2, 2025, WHOOP cut Peak to $199 and Life to $299 for 12 months, and in 2024 a year of membership was $199 instead of $239. WHOOP hadn't announced 2026 pricing as of October 3, 2026.10, 25
Can you pay for WHOOP with an HSA or FSA?
WHOOP says yes for 12-month One, Peak and Life memberships and its chargers, either through Truemed at join.whoop.com or by filing for reimbursement with your receipt. Monthly payments after the first commitment don't qualify. Your plan administrator has the final say, so check before counting on it.23
How much does it cost to upgrade from WHOOP 4.0 to 5.0?
A one-time $49 gets a WHOOP 5.0 and keeps you on Peak at your current billing. The $79 WHOOP MG upgrade also moves you to Life: leftover Peak months convert three for two, and renewals are $359. Prepaying 12 or 24 more months at the new plan's price gets either device free.8, 22
More on paying with pre-tax money, including the letter of medical necessity many plans want for wearables, is in our HSA/FSA fitness tracker guide.
