Ultrahuman Ring PRO Review: No Subscription, Two-Week Battery, and the 3-Year Math Against Oura Ring 5
Quick answer: The Ultrahuman Ring PRO is worth it if you want a smart ring with no monthly fee and a battery rated for up to 15 days. It costs $479 once, against about $609 for an Oura Ring 5 with three years of membership. Skip it if you want the slimmest ring, better-studied sleep data or a firm delivery date.1, 2, 3
Ultrahuman's pitch fits on a sticky note: pay $479, charge the ring about twice a month, never see a membership bill. It's also Ultrahuman's way back into the US, redesigned after Oura won a patent case that pushed the Ring AIR out in October 2025. The reviews and owner threads, though, keep landing on two other things. The ring is noticeably chunkier than the Oura Ring 5 it's chasing, and a lot of people who pre-ordered in the spring were still waiting for theirs in August.4, 5, 6
We put this together from Ultrahuman's and Oura's store and support pages (checked October 3, 2026), the U.S. Customs ruling that cleared the ring for import, four published reviews (Tech Advisor, ZDNET, T3 and Michael Kummer's chest-strap comparison) and about a dozen Reddit threads from buyers, paraphrased. No numbers here come from our own wrist or finger.
- Get the Ring PRO if you're done with subscriptions, hate weekly charging, or like an app that nudges you all day. $479 is the whole bill unless you add optional PowerPlugs.
- Get the Oura Ring 5 if comfort and a thin ring matter most, or you want blood oxygen data (a membership feature) and the more-studied sleep tracking. About $609 over three years with membership.
- The money: Oura is $10 cheaper after year one, falls behind when its second yearly fee hits, and ends three years about $130 more expensive. See the table.
- Before you order: Ultrahuman's US store quoted shipping from October 10 when we checked on October 3, 2026, and many spring pre-orders shipped months late.
Ultrahuman Ring PRO vs Oura Ring 5: How Do the Specs Compare?
The Ultrahuman Ring PRO wins on battery life, on-ring storage and the charging case that comes in the box; the Oura Ring 5 wins on size, weight and the price at checkout. Here's how the two makers' own specs line up as of October 3, 2026.1, 2, 3, 7
| Ultrahuman Ring PRO | Oura Ring 5 | |
|---|---|---|
| List price (October 2026) | $479, PRO Charging Case included | $399 Silver or Black, $499 other finishes |
| Ongoing fee | None required; optional paid PowerPlugs | Membership, $5.99/month or $69.99/year |
| Battery (maker's claim) | Up to 15 days (about 12 in Turbo Mode, 15+ in Chill Mode); up to 45 days with the PRO Charging Case | 6 to 9 days |
| Thickness | 2.65 mm (varies by size) | 2.28 mm |
| Weight | 3.3 to 4.8 g | From 2 g |
| Sizes | 5 to 14, whole sizes only | 6 to 13, whole sizes only |
| Sensors | Redesigned optical heart sensor (PPG), temperature, 6-axis motion | Two triple LEDs (red, green, infrared), two photodetectors, temperature, accelerometer |
| Data stored on the ring | Up to 250 days, plus up to a year in the case | Up to 3 days |
| Blood oxygen (SpO2) | Not on Ultrahuman's Ring PRO spec table; reported switched off for now | Yes, with membership |
| Water rating | 100 m | 100 m |
| Sleep tracking checked against lab sleep studies | No peer-reviewed study found (October 2026) | 2025 meta-analysis of six studies on older Oura rings |
Both rings are sold by size and finish, so size with the maker's kit first. Ultrahuman also sells the Ring PRO on its own site.
How Much Does the Ultrahuman Ring PRO Cost Over 1, 2 and 3 Years?
The Ultrahuman Ring PRO costs $479 whether you keep it one year or three, because the core app has no subscription. An Oura Ring 5 in Silver or Black with membership comes to about $469 after one year, $539 after two and $609 after three, using both companies' October 2026 prices before tax.1, 2, 3, 8
| Setup (USD, maker prices on October 3, 2026) | Upfront | After 1 year | After 2 years | After 3 years |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ring PRO, free app | $479 | $479 | $479 | $479 |
| Ring PRO + Cardio Adaptability ($24 a year) | $503 | $503 | $527 | $551 |
| Ring PRO + Cycle & Ovulation Pro ($39 a year) | $518 | $518 | $557 | $596 |
| Oura Ring 5 Silver/Black + membership (yearly plan) | $399 | $469 | $539 | $609 |
| Oura Ring 5 other finishes + membership (yearly plan) | $499 | $569 | $639 | $709 |
How we calculated it: list price plus each yearly fee. Oura's membership is first billed after the included month, then every 12 months. Ultrahuman's PowerPlugs are bought for a year at checkout, and we assume they renew at the same yearly price; Ultrahuman also sells two-year plans ($38 for Cardio Adaptability, $69 for Cycle & Ovulation Pro) that lower those rows. Each column is what you've paid by the end of that year. Paying Oura monthly ($5.99) lands within a dollar of the yearly-plan total over three years. Not included: sales tax, Ultrahuman's optional UltrahumanX coverage ($36 a year), Jade Pro, trade-in credit and replacement rings. Prices from ultrahuman.com and Oura's store and support pages, checked October 3, 2026.

The Ring PRO's entire price edge is the membership. Oura is $10 cheaper for the first year, loses that lead when the second yearly fee comes due in month 13, and finishes year three about $130 behind. Add Ultrahuman's priciest yearly PowerPlug and the gap almost disappears: $596 against $609.
If you're holding out for Black Friday (November 27, 2026), Ultrahuman hadn't announced holiday pricing for the Ring PRO when we checked on October 3. Shipping lead time matters more for a gift anyway; more on that below.
Does the Ultrahuman Ring PRO need a subscription?
No. Ultrahuman says there are no recurring subscription fees to access your ring data and that the Ring PRO is a one-time purchase. Sleep, recovery, stress, movement, heart rate, HRV, temperature and basic cycle tracking all come with the free app.1, 8, 9
What you can pay for is optional:
- Paid PowerPlugs. Cardio Adaptability (nightly heart monitoring) is $2.90 a month or $24 a year, Cycle & Ovulation Pro (ovulation confirmation and doctor-ready reports) is $3.99 a month or $39 a year, and Tesla Sync is $6.90 a month. Most PowerPlugs, including Caffeine Window, Vitamin D, Smart Alarm, Pregnancy Insights and Shift Work, are free.1, 8
- Jade Pro. Ultrahuman's Jade AI assistant is free but caps how many questions you can ask a day. T3 found the paid Jade Pro tier costs a bit over half of what Oura charges per month.10
- UltrahumanX. Accidental-damage coverage at $36 for one year or $54 for two.1
Compare that with Oura, where a ring without membership shows only your three daily scores plus battery and settings.3 T3's Matt Kollat makes a fair point the other way: stack enough small Ultrahuman extras and you can end up paying more than an Oura member.10 Our best smart rings with no subscription guide ranks the other rings that skip the monthly fee.
How Long Does the Ultrahuman Ring PRO Battery Last?
Ultrahuman rates the Ring PRO at up to 15 days per charge: about 12 days in Turbo Mode with every sensor running, and 15-plus in Chill Mode, which scales back some daytime tracking. Two of the three reviewers who logged battery life got close to that. Tech Advisor got almost two weeks, and T3 measured a little over 12 days on a larger size.1, 10, 11, 12
T3's log is the most detailed. In Chill Mode the ring sat at 53% after roughly nine days, then dropped to 15% over about five more days in Turbo Mode. Kollat also noticed stress tracking wasn't running at full strength in Chill Mode, so the longest figure comes with less data.10 The Oura Ring 5 is rated at 6 to 9 days. Michael Kummer is the outlier on both counts: with Turbo Mode on, his Ring PRO lasted only five to eight days, while his Oura Ring 5 went 12.7, 12

The PRO Charging Case is the other half of the battery story. Ultrahuman lists up to 45 days of battery with the case. We've read that as 45 days in total, ring included; Tech Advisor describes it as 45 days on top of the ring's own charge, so the real figure may be higher. The case recharges over USB-C or a 5W Qi pad and has a speaker so the app can help you find it. The ring snaps in magnetically, and Ultrahuman says that charging method runs cooler than a standard wireless pad to protect long-term battery health.1, 11 Charging time varies by report: Tech Advisor went from empty to full in under an hour, while T3's ring took around two hours from 15%.10, 11
That cooler-charging claim is aimed squarely at the Ring AIR's reputation. Battery fade and dead rings come up again and again in Reddit threads about the Ring AIR, and some owners say they're on their third or fourth replacement. Treat those as anecdotes. The Ring PRO is too new for anyone to know how its battery ages.6
One more caveat. Kummer lists blood oxygen as missing from the Ring PRO, and in late September an owner on Reddit said Ultrahuman support told them SpO2 had been switched off while the company works on it. Ultrahuman's Ring PRO spec table doesn't mention SpO2 either, although Tech Advisor's June spec list did include blood oxygen. If it's switched back on, battery numbers could change.1, 6, 11, 12
How Accurate Is the Ultrahuman Ring PRO?
No lab study of the Ultrahuman Ring PRO has been published yet, so accuracy comes down to reviewers' side-by-side tests, and they don't agree. Tech Advisor found its sleep and resting heart rate data solid; Michael Kummer's chest-strap comparison found the Oura Ring 5 far closer to the reference.11, 12
- Tech Advisor (Mike Sawh, June 2026): after Ultrahuman's two-week calibration, resting heart rate and HRV lined up with two other trackers, and sleep tracking was up there with the best he'd tested, Oura included. Average heart rate was way off during calibration, and step totals ran noticeably low.11
- Michael Kummer (July 2026): against a Frontier X2 ECG chest strap, his Oura Ring 5 stayed within 8% on every measure. The Ring PRO read 76 bpm during a stretch of chores where the strap read 107, a lowest resting heart rate of 51 against 40, and HRV of 73 ms against 50. He also found it logged couch time as sleep. That's one tester on one body, on a site that earns affiliate commissions.12
- T3 (Matt Kollat, September 2026): the ring missed many of his walks and seemed to round workouts to five-minute blocks. Its sleep stages didn't match his Oura Ring 5's, which he chalked up to both rings estimating stages without reading brain activity.10
Owner reports echo the activity problems. One early owner said a bike ride got counted as steps.6 Ultrahuman itself lists a calibration period of up to 14 days, so first-week numbers deserve a grain of salt.1
On the research side, a Europe PMC search on October 3, 2026 turned up no peer-reviewed polysomnography study of sleep staging on Ultrahuman's rings. Oura has more behind it: a 2025 meta-analysis of six studies covering 388 people found no statistically significant difference between the Oura Ring and lab sleep studies or actigraphy for total sleep time, sleep efficiency and time in each stage. All of those studies predate the Ring 5.13 If accuracy is your tiebreaker, the evidence leans Oura. Our Oura Ring 5 review covers how that ring holds up and where it doesn't.
What Do Reviewers and Owners Complain About?
The two big complaints are size and shipping: the Ring PRO is thicker and heavier than both the Ring AIR and the Oura Ring 5, and spring pre-orders shipped months late. Here's the full split from the four reviews we read.5, 10, 11, 12
- ✓ Battery: close to two weeks per charge for Tech Advisor and T3
- ✓ The case: included at no extra cost, works as a pocket charger, and has a find-my speaker (ZDNET, Tech Advisor)
- ✓ No subscription for the core data, which every review flagged
- ✓ App design: one of the most polished smart ring apps, per Tech Advisor; ZDNET liked how it visualizes data
- ✓ Finish: Tech Advisor saw better scratch resistance than on earlier Ultrahuman rings
- ✕ Bulk: ZDNET and T3 both found it chunky next to the Oura Ring 5, and ZDNET noted the sensors protrude
- ✕ Activity tracking: missed walks (T3) and low step counts (Tech Advisor)
- ✕ Pushy coaching: ZDNET's reviewer found the caffeine and circadian nudges intrusive
- ✕ Shipping: long pre-order waits (ZDNET, Reddit)
- ✕ Battery in Turbo Mode: only five to eight days for Kummer
- ✕ SpO2: missing for now, per Kummer and one owner
The shipping problem deserves more than a bullet. When US pre-orders opened in March, Ultrahuman said deliveries would start May 15.14 Reddit threads from June through September describe ship dates that kept moving (late June, then mid-July, then mid-August), refunds that took persistence, and offers of free PowerPlug months as an apology. Several owners who ordered in March or April got their rings in early August. ZDNET flagged the delays in its July review, too.5, 6 On October 3, 2026, Ultrahuman's US store listed new orders as shipping from October 10.1
None of that tells you how the ring holds up after a year. It does tell you to check the ship date at checkout, especially if it's a gift.
Is the Ultrahuman Ring PRO Worth It?
The Ultrahuman Ring PRO is worth it for a specific buyer: someone who refuses to pay a monthly fee, wants to charge twice a month, and enjoys an app that coaches. For people who mainly want comfortable, low-fuss sleep tracking, the Oura Ring 5 is the better ring even after its membership, which is roughly where ZDNET and T3 landed.5, 10
| Buy the Ring PRO if… | Skip it if… |
|---|---|
| You won't pay for a subscription, period | You want the thinnest ring or wear it next to a wedding band |
| You travel a lot or always forget chargers | You want blood oxygen or breathing data right now |
| You like data and nudges: circadian phases, caffeine timing, stress through the day | You want a quiet app that mostly stays out of your way |
| You'll pay with HSA or FSA money (Ultrahuman lists it as eligible) | You need it by a specific date |
| You owned a Ring AIR, liked the app and already know your size | Accuracy matters more to you than price |
Ultrahuman's US store also offers trade-in credit of up to $115 when you trade in an older ring, and the Ring PRO counts as HSA/FSA eligible on its checkout page.1 Our HSA and FSA fitness tracker guide explains how that works. If you lift heavy or work with your hands, bulk matters: Kummer found the Ring PRO pinched and got in the way during homestead work.12 Our smart rings and weightlifting guide covers that trade-off.
Can You Buy the Ultrahuman Ring PRO in the US?
Yes. U.S. Customs and Border Protection ruled on March 6, 2026 that the redesigned Ring PRO isn't covered by the import ban Oura won against Ultrahuman, and Ultrahuman opened US pre-orders on March 24, 2026.14, 15, 16
Why is Ultrahuman in a lawsuit? Oura took Ultrahuman and other ring makers, RingConn among them, to the U.S. International Trade Commission over a patent describing how a smart ring's housing, curved battery and circuit board fit together. The Commission sided with Oura in August 2025, ordering infringing Ultrahuman rings kept out of the country and barring Ultrahuman from selling imported stock. Oura announced on October 21, 2025 that the presidential review period had ended and the orders were in force. RingConn took a license from Oura; Ultrahuman didn't.15, 17 The US had been about 45% of Ultrahuman's daily active users, CEO Mohit Kumar told TechCrunch.4
Ultrahuman's answer was a redesign. According to the CBP ruling, the Ring AIR's outer titanium shell and inner epoxy layer are replaced in the Ring PRO by a single, continuous titanium tube with a snap-in titanium bottom cap. CBP found that design doesn't infringe the patent claims, and it lets the rings in only if importers certify, with records CBP can ask for, that they really are built that way. The ruling covers only that design.15
Is the Ultrahuman Ring AIR sold in the US?
Not by Ultrahuman. The ITC orders still cover the Ring AIR, which the CBP ruling names as the product found to infringe, and on October 3, 2026 Ultrahuman's US store sent its Ring buy link straight to the Ring PRO. The $349 Ring AIR price on that page sits in a PRO-versus-AIR comparison table, and even the Diesel-branded Ultrahuman ring's US page says the company can't currently sell or ship it to US addresses.1, 15, 18 In October 2025, Ultrahuman told US customers that retailers could keep selling Ring AIR stock already in the country and that existing owners keep app access, feature updates and warranty support.19 Tom's Guide in March and ZDNET in July both described the Ring AIR as unavailable to US buyers.5, 16 Our Ultrahuman Ring AIR review covers that ring for UK and EU readers.
Ultrahuman Ring PRO vs Ring AIR: What Changed?
The Ring PRO is a hardware rebuild with mostly the same software. On paper it roughly triples the Ring AIR's 4-to-6-day battery, adds a dual-core processor, 250 days of storage and the charging case, and gets a little thicker and heavier in the process, for $130 more.1, 11
| Ultrahuman's figures (October 2026) | Ring PRO | Ring AIR |
|---|---|---|
| Price on Ultrahuman's comparison table | $479 | $349 |
| Battery | Up to 15 days; up to 45 with case | 4 to 6 days |
| Thickness / weight | 2.65 mm / 3.3 to 4.8 g | 2.4 mm / 2.4 g |
| Processor | Dual-core with on-chip machine learning | Single-core |
| On-ring storage | Up to 250 days | 4 days |
| Charger | PRO Charging Case (magnetic) | Open wireless pad, about 180 minutes to full |
| Emergency removal | ProRelease: designed to be cut off more easily if a finger swells | Not listed |
Tech Advisor's verdict on the software was blunt: the features are largely the same as on the Ring AIR. ZDNET found the PRO 0.25 mm thicker, up to 2.4 grams heavier, and less comfortable than its predecessor.5, 11
How Do You Size the Ultrahuman Ring PRO?
Size with Ultrahuman's Ring PRO sizing kit before you buy. The ring comes in whole sizes 5 to 14 only, and Ultrahuman warns that its sizes may differ slightly from standard US ring sizes. If you already know your Ring AIR size, Ultrahuman says the Ring PRO fits the same.1
Ordering direct, the sizing kit is free and ships first. On Amazon it's a separate listing (linked below). Wear the sizer through a full day and a night, because fingers swell and shrink. Kummer's experience is the cautionary tale: he went too small, and his Ring PRO only fits one finger and occasionally irritates his skin.1, 12 Oura's sizes don't carry over, so if you're still deciding, see our Oura Ring 5 sizing guide too.
What Are the Best Alternatives to the Ultrahuman Ring PRO?
The best alternatives to the Ultrahuman Ring PRO are the RingConn Gen 3 and Samsung Galaxy Ring if skipping the subscription is what sold you, and the Oura Ring 5 if you'll pay a membership for a slimmer, better-studied ring.
- Other no-subscription rings: our no-subscription ring rankings and the Oura Ring 5 vs RingConn Gen 3 comparison.

Ultrahuman Ring PRO FAQ
Does the Ultrahuman Ring PRO require a subscription?
No. Ultrahuman says the Ring PRO is a one-time $479 purchase with no recurring fee to access your data. Optional paid PowerPlugs exist, such as Cardio Adaptability at $24 a year and Cycle & Ovulation Pro at $39 a year (October 2026), but sleep, recovery, heart rate and HRV tracking are free.1, 8
How long does the Ultrahuman Ring PRO battery last?
Up to 15 days per charge, Ultrahuman says: about 12 in Turbo Mode and 15 or more in Chill Mode, and up to 45 days with the included case. Tech Advisor got almost two weeks and T3 a little over 12 days, but Michael Kummer saw only five to eight days in Turbo Mode.1, 10, 11, 12
Is the Ultrahuman Ring PRO better than the Oura Ring 5?
On cost, yes: $479 total against about $609 over three years for Oura with membership, and Ultrahuman's battery rating is roughly double Oura's. On comfort and evidence, no. The Oura Ring 5 is thinner and lighter, and one chest-strap comparison found it far closer on heart rate and HRV.1, 2, 3, 7, 12
Why is Ultrahuman in a lawsuit with Oura?
Oura accused Ultrahuman of infringing a smart ring patent at the U.S. International Trade Commission. The Commission agreed in August 2025, and orders blocking imports of the Ring AIR took effect in October 2025. U.S. Customs ruled on March 6, 2026 that the redesigned Ring PRO falls outside those orders.15, 17
Is the Ultrahuman Ring AIR still sold in the US?
Not by Ultrahuman. The Ring AIR is still covered by the 2025 ITC orders, and in October 2026 Ultrahuman's US store redirected its Ring buy page to the Ring PRO. Ultrahuman said retailers could sell stock already in the US, and existing owners keep app access, feature updates and warranty support.1, 15, 19
Does the Ultrahuman Ring PRO track blood oxygen?
Not right now, as far as we can tell. SpO2 isn't on Ultrahuman's Ring PRO spec table, reviewer Michael Kummer lists it as missing, and one owner says support told them it was switched off while Ultrahuman improves it. The Oura Ring 5 does measure blood oxygen, with an active membership.1, 3, 6, 12
Does the Ultrahuman Ring PRO detect AFib in the US?
Not yet. Ultrahuman's AFib Detection is a paid PowerPlug, and its US PowerPlugs page says it's available in Europe, the UK, Turkey, Switzerland and other regions, with a US launch still planned as of October 2026. Neither ring offers AFib alerts to US buyers right now.8, 20
Is the Ultrahuman Ring PRO HSA or FSA eligible?
Ultrahuman's US checkout lists the Ring PRO as HSA/FSA eligible and accepts HSA and FSA cards through a payment partner, as of October 2026. The paid Cardio Adaptability and Cycle & Ovulation Pro PowerPlugs are marked eligible too. Check your own plan's rules before you buy.1
Is my Ring AIR size the same for the Ring PRO?
Yes, according to Ultrahuman: if you already know your Ring AIR size, the Ring PRO will fit the same. New buyers should use the free sizing kit, since Ring PRO sizes run 5 to 14 in whole sizes and may differ slightly from standard US ring sizes.1
